Rugged tablet PCs are among the best choices for field inspection and reporting, asset tracing and more. They can be used standing up and in all kinds of different locations, even ones that are too harsh for ordinary tablet PCs to deal with. Just like any other rugged computer, these PCs are subject to grueling testing and require a certain level of protection from their environment.
These computers are becoming extremely popular in the energy industry and utilities, as well as many other areas, and many companies are finding them indispensable. Whether it’s a place where you used to use an ordinary laptop, or where a manual process was used, you’ll find that rugged tablet PCs speed things up. All kinds of industries have been changed by this type of tablet.
Rugged tablets have the ability to deal with conditions that a regular tablet just can’t stand up to, and can work around flammable gases, inside moving vehicles, and in extreme temperatures. They can survive falls onto hard concrete and deal with moisture and dust, even putting up with full immersion. High contrast screens offer good visibility even when it’s very dim or extremely bright.
These are just a few of the tough situations that a computer used in a plant or out in the field might have to deal with. These computers have to be able to work in conditions ranging from direct sunlight to near total darkness without being hard to read, and they need to be able to communicate. Fortunately, the wireless capabilities of rugged tablet PCs just keep on improving as technology advances.
New wireless technology on rugged tablet PCs means they can provide all kinds of information, including geospatial information, reference material, schematics and lots more. These technologies are becoming more affordable, and while a rugged tablet still costs more than an ordinary laptop, you’ll pay less in maintenance and replacement over the course of its lifetime.
Rugged mobile computing is helping streamline processes and cut budgets, too. These computers allow automation, more effective mapping and management, improved data accuracy and a lot more, including a decreased reliance on paper files. Even though a rugged tablet PC has a high price tag, it’ll save a lot of money in the long run.
Rugged tablets give you the ability to navigate and enter information with no need for conventional pointers, a mouse or a keyboard. More compact than regular laptop computers, they’re easy to operate for specialized jobs and can go anywhere you need them to.
All different kinds of companies are finding out that rugged computing is the right choice for them. This durable, versatile technology has only been on the market for a few years, but it’s been advancing steadily ever since it arrived. Delivery and courier services, utility and energy companies and many more have been saving money, becoming more efficient, and improving accuracy with this great technology – your company should do the same.

i didn't like this camera. i had it for about 2 months, and then it stopped focusing. not to mention i hate the quality of the pictures i took. the color of the actual camera is pretty, i got the red one. but looking at all the pictures i've taken – even pictures taken on a very sunny day, iso 100 come out grainy and strange looking. the only plus that i can really think of is the size, since i'm used to carrying around an slr that doesn't exactly fit in my purse, its convenient to have a small camera. but lots of cameras are the same size or smaller, and i think canon's line of digital elph, which i had before my nikon, are much more functional and take better quality pictures.
Pro : pretty, good screen
Con : noisy/grainy pics, broke quickly
