First of all lets think of the camera brands that have passed the test of time. Which camera brands come to your mind? Canon and Nikon are by far the longest running and most successful brand of cameras on the market.
Which brands have made it through the years and have become staple names in the photography world? The two brands that make the world’s best cameras are Nikon and Canon. These cameras are more expensive, but are absolutely worth it if you want to have a camera that lasts and gives you stunning pictures.
What makes these brands better than the competition? Canon and Nikon use high quality materials and even just holding one of these brands compared to another cheaper brand is like light and day. Canon and Nikon cameras are often heavier and don’t have the “cheap” feel of the other brands. They also are masters at capturing color and shadows as they produce the best camera lenses in the world.
These two brands of cameras are made of much higher quality materials to enhance color and shadow capture which will give you much higher resolution pictures. The computer and flash memory are also much much faster on one of these two brands of cameras which will allow you to never miss those special moments.
Yes the prices are higher for Canon and Nikon, but you get what you pay for, especially in the world of photography.

i didn't like this camera. i had it for about 2 months, and then it stopped focusing. not to mention i hate the quality of the pictures i took. the color of the actual camera is pretty, i got the red one. but looking at all the pictures i've taken – even pictures taken on a very sunny day, iso 100 come out grainy and strange looking. the only plus that i can really think of is the size, since i'm used to carrying around an slr that doesn't exactly fit in my purse, its convenient to have a small camera. but lots of cameras are the same size or smaller, and i think canon's line of digital elph, which i had before my nikon, are much more functional and take better quality pictures.
Pro : pretty, good screen
Con : noisy/grainy pics, broke quickly
